Woulkd a few fellow owners of 44 W/Os please share with me the location and size of your holding tanks as well as the routing of hoses leading to and from?  Also, to empty the tank(s) are you using a mascerator pump (or 2), deck fittings for pumpouts, or both?  I've never had to have them, but new regulations are in the wind and I may have to bite the bullet soon.  Thanks!

Harry: the forward head: my holding tank is (20gal) in the v-berth...the vent and pump out hoses are routed from there into the sink cabinet and up thru the the sliding door cabinet to the vent on the side of the hull, the pump out is located in the deck straight up from there.
The rear head....the holding tank(20gal) is located in the port cockpit locker with a maserator going to the sea-cock via a y valve. the pump out is in the step on the port side.

Ours on Windstar are in the same place, but we use Guzzler Diaphram pumps to remove the waste when offshore.

Thanks for the replies.  I should be able to fit the one for the aft head OK in that lazerette using a standard rectangular tank.  Up forward, however, the space isn't so regularly shaped.  Are your tanks more wedge shaped up there, or will a rectangular tank fit there as well?

Harry,
I just put a new tank in the forward V area. It was made for another boat but it fit up there like CSY made it, perfect.  I have some pictures of it if you would like to see it.  It cost me 30 bucks and is 20 gallons.  Let me know if you want one.  I think that Don's Salvage still has some.  They had about 15 when I got it and the only difference is where the outlets and inlets are at.  It didn't have a big enough of an outlet for me, it was only a half inch.  I took it back to the manifacturer here in Flordia and they put in a larger 1" for me for free.  I don't know where you are at but it is a lot cheaper than trying to buy another one.  I checked on a new one the exact same as what is in both the forward and aft and it was going to end up being almost 300 plus shipping.

I shoe horned a 20 gal in the forward v berth...had to cut two vertical notches in the sides of the compartment about 3/8 deep.. but it went in snug....got my thick walled tank from defender, for 120 plus shipping ..with the fittingd where they were...
