Roger and Janice on CSY 44 WO Beaujolais joined us (Soggy Paws) in Isla Isabela in the Galapagos... just in time for the tsunami!!
We did get a small 'tidal wave' here... about 6 feet, and the water is still 'sloshing' in the Pacific Basin over 24 hours later. For the first hour it was pretty scary. We had no warning (other than a one-line email received from a friend via Sailmail just before it happened), though boats in other Galapagos harbors had been wakened by the Port Authority and made to put to sea... our Port Captain was goo busy getting his family to 'high ground' I think.
By the time it was happening, it was too dicey for us to up anchor. But we did get the engine going, and were prepared to raise anchor. But we had currents in the anchorage of 5-10 knots... the 'tide' went completely out... about 5-6' and then back in... in the space of about 5-10 minutes. Several times over 45 minutes. We were swirling around and yanked up short on our chain several times. Pretty scary, but we were lucky.
We had a nice dinner aboard Soggy Paws with the crew of Beaujolais last night. We leave for Easter Island tomorrow morning, and Roger and Janice will stay in the Galapagos waiting on refrigeration parts...

We hope to see them again somewhere in French Polynesia.
